Bracel privacy policy

This policy covers the Bracel browser extension ("Bracel: a cat for every website") and its website, bracel.saurabhpagrut.in.

In short: Bracel collects nothing and sends nothing anywhere. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no server. Your settings stay in your browser.

What Bracel stores, on your device

Your settings (show or hide, coat, size, purr sound, which actions are switched on), in the browser's extension storage (chrome.storage.sync). If you use your browser's sync, the browser carries them to your other devices; the developer never sees them.
Your per-site choices (sites where Bracel is switched on or off, and whether it visits every site), in the browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local).

That is all. Bracel does not store or read the pages' text, your browsing history, form data, passwords, cookies or the websites' own storage.

What Bracel does not collect

Bracel does not collect, use or transmit any of these: personally identifiable information, health information, financial and payment information, authentication information, personal communications, location, web history, user activity (clicks, mouse position, scrolling, keystrokes) or website content.

Bracel reacts to your pointer on the page (stroke it and it purrs), but that happens inside the page, in the moment: nothing is recorded or kept.

What Bracel sends

Nothing. Bracel makes no network requests: no analytics, no error reports, no remote configuration, no fonts or images from elsewhere and no remote code. Everything it needs is inside the extension.

How Bracel looks at a page

To find places to sit, Bracel looks only at the page's layout: where boxes, images and headers are, whether a dialog or menu is open, which field has focus (so it keeps clear of what you type in), and whether the page is light or dark. It does not read text, and nothing it sees leaves the page.

Permissions, and why

Permission	Why
`activeTab`	When you click the toolbar button or press the shortcut, Bracel may visit the tab you are on, until it navigates away.
`scripting`	To put Bracel on that tab, and to bring it back by itself on the sites you switched on.
`storage`	To remember your settings and per-site choices.
Access to one site (asked when you switch on "On this site")	So Bracel comes back by itself on that site.
Access to all sites (asked when you switch on "On every site"; optional)	So Bracel can visit every site. It still reads nothing and sends nothing.

You can take back site access at any time by switching the option off in the popup, or in your browser's extension settings.

Sharing and selling

Bracel has no user data to share, sell or transfer, and it never will. It does not use data for advertising, creditworthiness or lending, or any purpose unrelated to its single purpose. The use of information received from browser APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Children

Bracel collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.

The website

bracel.saurabhpagrut.in is a static website hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising. The cat on its pages runs entirely in your browser. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data needed to deliver and protect the site (such as IP address and browser type); see Cloudflare's privacy policy at www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

Removing your data

Remove the extension from your browser and its stored settings go with it. To clear synced settings too, remove the extension on every device, or clear the extension's data in your browser's sync settings.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. Bracel will not start collecting data without a new version of the extension and a clear notice.
